Unsigned Artist Tip #2

Before I head back to the motherland, I gotta put ya'll on to some more unsigned artists tips.

-Being different, freaky, weird, extra quiet, all that stuff does qualify for your music being HOT. When people ask "Why should I like your music?" or stuff like that, your reply should not be, "Because it's different." Different is not an answer just like "Swagger" isn't the answer to describe how someone looks. You don't have to compare yourself or your music, but you can create adjectives and put them together accordingly to explain what your music is supposed to do for people and how you feel it changes the game.

* For example, if someone asked me why I think my writing is hot, I'd reply saying that I flow words together so well that any reader can relate to what the information I'm relaying to the public. I take some people back, and put some people forward with the way I explain things through my writing. Something like that.

Some Unsigned Artists Tips

After going to the Black Student Alliance Fashion Show, I noticed a lot of things during the unsigned artists performances. Unsigned artists are so confused. Working at Ozone, I learned a lot about unsigned artists and their performances. Your performance is everything!!! Cause it determines your stage presence and that is very important. Here's a tip:

- Leave your homeboys offstage. I, nor the people who are trying to sign you, nor the audience, are trying to see your homeboys on stage attempting to rap with you and no mic in hand. It's very unprofessional and not attractive to your performance. You want to keep the attention on you, not anything your crew is doing on stage. That's how you create a stage presence that an audience cannot resist.

I might hit ya'll with some more tips throughout the blog. Cause I'm sure ya'll need it.

Q-Tip x The Cool Kids x Janelle Monae = Great Footage for the Blog!!!!

I went to the Q-Tip concert at Centerstage on Monday night. Cuties were definitely in the building and I got great footage!!! Check it out.

Janelle set it off. Check out the video.

The Cool Kids are so cute. Especially Mickey. Oh yeah he can get it. He's gonna be on my 'Sexy Can I' in a minute.

And Q-Tip really got down. But due to my sister buying me cheap batteries for my new digicam, the footage on Q-Tip was real slim. Sorry guys. He did a little thing for J. Dilla(RIP) and then went into The Renaissance album, which ya'll need to buy or already have on deck. It was a great show and worth all of my $27, especially since I'm jobless right now!!!!

Hope ya'll enjoy and see you at the next event!

Flobots - No Handlebars

The haters at Universal disabled the embed code for this video. My 'ol homegirl's homey put me on to Flobots two months ago. Check them out, I'm sure you'll like them. Like a lame, I missed their concert here in the ATL due to lack of funds. But get up on your music people. I'm not gonna tell you again.

SOLEDAD!!!!!!!!!!!

The baddest chick on CNN(right above my homegirl LOLA) was at my school today. The creator of documentaries like "Children of the Storm" and "Black in America", she is a really great speaker and a good person. Her documentaries are very touching. Her latest documentary "Escape from Jonestown," has really touched me. I mean I haven't seen it quite yet, but being I'm down with Soledad, I already know where she's going with it. Also, I am very familiar with the Jim Jones story and other cults. My brother is in a cult and I don't really talk to him anymore. So ever since he joined the cult I've done serious research on them because I want to be very aware of those type of things. She gave me her email, so hopefully when I email her, she will get a chance to email me back. Holla.
